Our Mission
The Will Clough Foundation will focus on two key objectives, inspired by who Will was, how he lived his life, how he treated others, and how we tragically lost him.
-
Will was never happier than when he was on a sports pitch and, if we’re honest, he was often the best player on it. He'd never have put it this grandly, but sport gave him some of his uniqueness - including his team approach, equanimity, many of his closest friendships and no small amount of his confidence.
We hope to help children and young people find some of the same; to get active and stay active by funding coaching, equipment, and access to sport (particularly cricket, unsurprisingly) for those who might otherwise face financial or social barriers to taking part.
-
Losing Will taught us, in the most brutal way, that no one is immune to mental health struggles - not even someone who seemed to have everything. We hope to support mental health and emotional wellbeing, with a particular focus on those who are disproportionately affected by suicide and often face real barriers to asking for help.
Our aim is to fund access to counselling, support early intervention and awareness initiatives, and back peer support and mentoring networks that help people before they reach crisis point.
